DOLLY PARTON, internationally renowned superstar, has announced the first round of on-sale dates for the “Backwoods Barbie World Tour 2008/2009,” beginning with a February 28, 2008 show in Minneapolis, MN in support of her new studio album BACKWOODS BARBIE, available digitally and at retail on February 5. This initial announcement is the first wave of confirmed dates--with many more to be announced--as DOLLY plans to tour extensively throughout 2008, including a major run through Europe in June and July. BACKWOODS BARBIE (Dolly Records) is DOLLY’s first album of mainstream country music in 17 years and features the new single and video “Better Get To Livin’.”

In advance of the tour, DOLLY will perform at three special club shows: February 4 at The Roxy in Los Angeles, February 11 at Park West in Chicago and February 13 at Highline Ballroom in New York City. These shorter shows will include songs from the new album as well selections from her vast catalog. Tickets will only be available through and supporting radio stations (KKGO in Los Angeles and US99.5 in Chicago).

For the “Backwoods Barbie World Tour 2008/2009,” DOLLY will perform hits from throughout her storied career--which includes 21 #1 hits, seven Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards and three American Music Awards--as well as songs from BACKWOODS BARBIE. She wrote nine of the songs for the album and produced the CD with bandleader and guitarist Kent Wells.
