TOURS OF NORTH AMERICA AND EUROPE PLANNED
DOLLY PARTON is taking her new single “Better Get To Livin’” to the streets of New York City--literally--when she kicks off the 2007 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday, November 22.
The internationally renowned superstar will be on the lead float to perform the song--a classic kick-in-the-pants inspirational--in front of over three million live spectators and 50 million TV viewers nationwide (NBC-TV, 9AM-12PM ET/PT).
“Better Get To Livin’” is the first single from the iconic singer and songwriter’s upcoming BACKWOODS BARBIE, her first mainstream country album in over 17 years due out February 5 on her new label, Dolly Records. “I’ve always dreamed of doing the Macy’s parade,” she says. “I guess I don’t get to watch it this year though…I’ll have to tape it!”
Also on Thanksgiving Day, the just-completed video for “Better Get To Livin’” will have its world premiere on CMT (Country Music Television). In addition, DOLLY will be interviewed on CMT’s “Top 20 Countdown,” which will air throughout the weekend beginning at 9:30 AM.
In touring news, DOLLY is planning major concert treks in the U.S. beginning in February, then hitting Europe in the summer and a return to the States, with dates expected into December 2008. DOLLY will perform hits from throughout her storied career--which includes seven Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards and three American Music Awards--as well as songs from BACKWOODS BARBIE. She wrote nine of the songs for the album and produced the CD with bandleader and guitarist Kent Wells.
DOLLY debuted “Better Get To Livin’” on ABC-TV’s “Dancing With The Stars” (9/26) to an overwhelming response, and Billboard magazine’s Deborah Evans Price said it’s an "...uplifting single...At the heart of the track is Parton's sweetly distinctive vocal, backed by the angelic voices of acclaimed gospel songbirds Sonya and Becky Isaacs. The well-crafted lyric finds Parton encouraging others to live life to the fullest. Full of Parton's signature wit, wisdom and personality...” (10/27/07).
