After much anticipation, Sony Legacy is releasing Dolly, a deluxe 4-CD box set that spans Dolly’s entire career and features numerous rare never-before-heard tracks and demos, all 21 of Dolly’s #1 country hits, 11 famous Porter/Dolly duets, and many other select tracks. This ultimate box set features 99 songs spanning multiple labels, including Dolly’s early first recordings at the Louisiana-based Goldband label at age 11, rare recordings from Mercury when she was 16, the Monument recordings from 1965-67, her successful RCA recordings from 1967 to 1985, all the way up to her Columbia releases from 1985 until the mid-90’s.
Among the rare treats for Dolly fans on this unique box set include these previously unreleased tracks:
“Gonna Hurry (As Slow As I Can)” – a demo circa 1957-62, co-written with Dolly’s uncle Bill Owens.
“Nobody But You” – (with the Merry Melody Singers) – from the same 1962 Nashville sessions that produced Dolly’s Mercury single “It’s Sure Gonna Hurt” b/w “The Love You Gave,” both of which are also included on this box set.
“I’ve Known You All My Life” – a virtually unknown Goffin-King song (cut by the Four Preps) from the same November 1965 sessions at Monument as “Don’t Drop Out,” produced and arranged by Ray Stevens.
“Everything Is Beautiful (In Its Own Way)” – an original composition, from the fall 1969 sessions at RCA Studios Nashville for Dolly’s The Fairest Of Them All album.
An earlier version of “God’s Coloring Book” recorded in April 1971.
“Eugene Oregon” and “What Will Baby Be” – both original compositions, from the RCA Studios Nashville sessions of December 1972, recorded for Dolly’s My Tennessee Mountain Home album which didn’t make the album.
“Comin’ For To Carry Me Home” – Dolly’s own arrangement of “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and also a 1971 single which reached #23 on the country charts but was never released on any album.
The box set will also feature a 60 page full-color booklet that features rare never-before-seen photographs and memorabilia, an introduction by singer-songwriter Laura Cantrell, and an extensive 5,000 word biographical essay from ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award-winning writer-editor-producer-lecturer Holly George-Warren.

Dolly’s brand new music video for her latest single “Change It” has just debuted on her Myspace page! The video features footage from the single’s recording session and a recent photo shoot in Nashville. Check it out and make sure to get the single from iTunes if you haven’t already!
A full live concert album and video of Dolly’s 2008 concerts at London’s O2 Arena will be released on CD and DVD this October. Dolly: Live In London O2 Arena was filmed in front of a sold out crowd of 18,000 fans, the set list features Dolly performing some of her biggest hits from throughout her career as well as some of her latest singles from her 2008 Backwoods Barbie album.
Fans can currently watch an abbreviated version of the concert DVD airing on American Public Television stations across the country. Check local television listings for more information. Fans can also get the Dolly: Live In London O2 Arena CD and DVD early by making a donation to an APT station that is carrying the show. WNPT is just one of the stations in which fans can make a donation to get an early copy of the CD/DVD.
A half hour profile of Dolly on CNN International’s show Revealed will debut on August 19th. Dolly and her pal Kenny Rogers were interviewed for the show, for which he said of Dolly, “Dolly is liberating – she is so herself, she makes everyone else feel that they have the right to be themselves.”
The show will also include Dolly’s recent appearances at her Dollywood themepark, promoting her Imagination Library in Atlanta, Georgia, accepting her honorary doctorate from the University of Tennessee back in May, and stock interview footage from throughout her career. The program will air on August 19th at 9:30 a.m. British Summer Time, 4:30 am Eastern Standard Time with multiple reruns on August 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. After the program airs, fans will be able to watch the entire episode online at www.cnn.com/revealed. After several months on Broadway, Dolly’s 9 To 5: The Musical will be giving its final show on September 6th. “I couldn’t have asked for a better experience on my first Broadway show,” Dolly said of the closing. “I’ve had the privilege of working with an amazing group of people who have become like family to me. I can’t wait for this show to hit the road so people across the country can see why I’m so proud of everyone involved.” Tickets to the remaining shows are still available via Ticket Master.
9 To 5: The Musical’s cast album was released the day before the announcement. This original Broadway cast recording features Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty, Marc Kudisch and the rest of the cast’s musical numbers from the show. The album debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top Cast Album chart and is available now from Amazon. Dolly posted a heartfelt video diary today about the recent passing of Michael Jackson. On his passing, she said “He really was a true musical genius and a fantastic performer and really sweet, sweet soul.
