Dolly Graces Cover of Country Weekly

Dolly Parton appears on the cover of the January 20th issue of Country Weekly magazineDolly graces the cover of this week’s Country Weekly magazine, talking about her new Joyful Noise film. When asked why she took the part, Dolly says, “I only take parts that I can do that are close to my personality because I don’t know if I could play anything outside of my basic personality.” Dolly also opens up on the dance scenes she was required to do for the film, saying those were the most difficult aspect of making the movie for her. “I was more nervous about that than anything,” Dolly confesses in the article. The issue is out on newsstands now and also includes a fold out poster of the movie.

Joyful Noise SoundtrackIn related news, the Joyful Noise soundtrack debuted at the #1 spot on the Billboard Soundtrack chart and at #21 on the Billboard 200. A column in from Billboard suggests that the album could even break into the top 10 on the next round of album charts. Dolly Stops By Anderson Tomorrow

Tomorrow, on her 66th birthday, Dolly will appear on Anderson Cooper’s daytime talk show, Anderson, to chat about Joyful Noise. The movie debuted over the weekend and came in fourth with $13.8 million in tickets sold. Watch a preview in the player below.

People magazine also posted a clip from the interview where Dolly discusses the much talked about photo of a supposed tattoo that was captured during her appearance at the Joyful Noise premier in Hollywood last week. Dolly denies that it was a real tattoo, saying “That would be an odd spot [for a tattoo]“. When Anderson asked if she does have any real tattoos, Dolly replied “I might, but I’m not going to show ‘em ’til they catch me at it.” Check your local listings for Anderson airtimes tomorrow.

Dolly & Latifah Hitting The Airwaves

Dolly and her film co-star Queen Latifah are in the midst of a major publicity tour for their new Joyful Noise movie, in theaters nationwide this Friday. Here’s the round-up:

On Wednesday night, Dolly will appear on The Late Show With David Letterman and perform a song from Joyful Noise accompanied by the film’s music producer, Mervyn Warren. The show airs at 11:35 P.M. on CBS.

Then on Thursday, Dolly will join Queen Latifah on the Today show on NBC at 7 A.M. for an interview and performance. Right after, Dolly heads over to appear on Live With Kelly at 9 A.M. Then later that afternoon, she will be interviewed on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart which airs at 11 P.M. on Comedy Central.

The film stars Dolly alongside hip-hop powerhouse Queen Latifah in an upbeat, musically-driven, comedy about the two womens’ very different ideas on running a small town gospel choir. Dolly plays the fiery G. G. Sparrow who feels the choir needs to freshen things up by putting a gospel spin on more modern, pop songs, while Latifah’s character, Vi Rose Hill, is insistant on sticking to the choir’s more traditional arrangements. Tensions mount between the two as G. G.’s grandson Randy, played by Jeremy Jordan, falls in love with Vi’s daughter Olivia, played by Keke Palmer.
