The official film trailer for The Book Lady (above) has just been released, featuring clips of interviews with Miley Cyrus, Keith Urban and Dolly herself. The upcoming documentary from Emotion Pictures follows the story of Dolly’s extensive charitable efforts to promote early childhood reading and literacy with her Dollywood Foundation and her Imagination Library. The film previewed at the Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia back in September and is currently being submitted to U.S. film festivals and broadcasters. The Book Lady is also set to air in Canada later next year on CBC, Bravo! Canada and BookTelevision.

Speaking of Dolly and books, the cover for her upcoming children’s book I Am A Rainbow has also just been released. Featuring illustrations by Heather Sheffield and written by Dolly for children between four and eight years old, the book relates emotions to children through color and how they can learn to express their feelings. The book is due out May 14th from Putnam Juvenile and can be preordered now on sale from Amazon.

Dolly has contributed several new songs to an upcoming independent film called First Dog starring Dan Aykroyd and Eric Roberts. The story revolves around a little boy named Danny Milbright who discovers Teddy, the President’s dog, who is lost thousands of miles from home. Danny runs away from his foster home to set out on an adventure to return Teddy back to the White House. No word yet on how many of Dolly’s songs will be included in the film, but fans can check out a letter from Dolly and listen to a sampling of one of her songs that was contributed to the film on the film’s official website. The film is being shot over the next two weeks in Morgan Hill, California. A short blurb about the shooting of the film is available from The Morgan Hill Times.
