Dolly Outraged Over Howard Stern Prank
Dolly has expressed outrage over a recent prank on Howard Stern’s satellite radio show when the shock-jock aired a lewd segment featuring Dolly’s voice. The segment featured audio taken from Dolly’s audiobook and was edited to create vulgar and racist sound bites using her voice. Dolly fired back today at the radio host by saying, “I have never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in all my life. I cannot believe what Howard Stern has done to me. In a blue million years, I would never have such vulgar things come out of my mouth. They have done editing or some sort of trickery to make this horrible, horrible thing. Please accept my apology for them and certainly know I had nothing to do with this. If there was ever going to be a lawsuit, it’s going to be over this. Just wanted you to know that I am completely devastated by this.”

Don’t you give this another second of you time. Anyone with even the slightest of hearing ability can detect the “doctoring” of this audio clip.

Anyone who actually heard this episode, or listened to Howard Stern with an open mind would know these clips were CLEARLY doctored. It’s a running gag on Howard’s show and he does it with EVERYONE. He has done it with Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Johnny Carson and the list goes on.
The audio clips are so choppy and so obviously manipulated, that I can’t grasp how ANYONE with half a brain could actually believe Dolly would say these things.
Everyone needs to get a sense of humor, or at least listen to the show more intently before getting so bent out of shape.

I’ve listened to your music for years, and I loved you in 9-5. I also read that you were one of Ronnie Milsap’s greatest supporters. Your class shows through and through. I also agree with applying the old saying “consider the source” in this case. Most people know that Howard Stern is probably the closest representation of a complete and total idiot as you can get. I encourage you to seek legal counsel and file a lawsuit. People all over the country would applaud you for just holding him accountable, if nothing else. Maybe if he had to take a little forced time off he would contemplate using his energy to do some meaningful work instead of being such a total waste of a human being.

I cannot believe he did something so horrible to you. I truly feel you are one of the Queens of country music and deserve the upmost respect and reverance for all you have achieved. You are a living legend and continue to inspire up and coming musicians as well as many little girls. Hold your head up and know that noone believes you would ever say such. Sue his pants off and know that you are one hundred precent in the right! Maybe the higher ups of the radio world will be forced to put Howard Stern out on his butt where he belongs. Other shock jocks have been punished for such slander, he did the same as them and I think deserves the same punishment.

OMG that was the best. I laughed my butt off. You need to loosen up Dolly. Its really not a huge deal. Everyone knows that you are a kind person and that it was just a joke. I agree with all that have commented so far except Mike, that is NOT humor, decent people don’t like to hear it, much less speak it. I have NEVER listened to Howard Stern and NEVER will. I heard he was trash and filth and I wonder how someone like that can have a show. He should be shut off the airwaves. I agree that everyone has a different sense of humor and what is funny to some is not necessarily funny to others. Of course, anyone who knows Dolly, knows she would not say those things but some people out there will believe ANYTHING. And yes, Howard is a detestable slug of human being. What we need to remember is that a joke is only funny until someone gets hurt. There’s more to this than just Dolly’s feelings. She adored Johnny Carson and is friends with Kenny and Burt and has collaborated thru the years with Linda (don’t know that they are friends though) and to think the people at the Howard Stern show thought it would be funny to hear her say such groteseque things about such a wonderful man.
The same people that think this is funny are probably the same people that picked on the fat kids at school, or the gay kids, or the handicapped kids..and thought it was funny even though someone’s feelings got hurt.
The biggest revenge would be to turn this incident into a smash hit song like Coat of Many Colors and show Stern that she can play hardball, but with class and dignity! Of course, suing him will work as well. Someone needs to shut this loudmouth idiot up and it might as well be the Queen of Country Music that does it!
Howard Stern is not funny and he has absolutely no talent, why else would he need to take potshots like this? He’s actually a sad, pathetic, little man with no talent and needs to spend his time making others ‘look’ bad to satisfy his own gross sense of humor. I’ve never had the desire to listen to him and this indicent ensures that I never will.

A person has to be pretty shallow to think that this type of humor is funny at the expense of making others look SO bad. These comments weren’t even funny, they were TOTALLY disgusting. How about suing him to make a point and then donating the winnings of the lawsuit to charity? Would make a good thing out of a disgusting one. Just a thought.

I tried to listen to the tape Howard made, but I cut it off. Anyone that knows you, or your fans that follow your career, knows that you didn’t say those awful things. Even though it is a lot of your time and money to sue, I think you should make Howard pay. You can always donate the money to charity. He should be held accountable for what he says. I don’t listen to him because he does not have morals, and has a fithy mouth. Your famil, friends and your fans will stand behind you 100%. We don’t beleive that you could say anything that was on that tape. So, don’t sweat it, but make him pay.

I think it is terrible that people think that what Howard Stern puts on the air is funny. I find it sad that there are people in the world who find humor in the downgrading of others. I feel Howard Stern is a big contributor to the lack of respect people have for one another today. There has to be some kind of law that prevents someone from doing what he did to Dolly. He should be held accountable for his actions and I seriously hope that Dolly is successful in a lawsuit against Howard Stern for what he’s done. It would be a good thing if enough people canceled their Sirius contracts because of Howard Sterns actions in this matter, causing him to once and for all be banned from spreading any more of his filth. I truly hope he gets more than a fine, which he can well afford, or a brief suspension, which will only allow him to come back and pick up where he left off. Let’s finally put a stop to the slander that celebrities seem to get away with all to easily. Dolly you have my support.

I am a country girl myself and I have been to your concerts and Dollywood and watched you on T.V. and anybody that knows ANYTHING about you will most assuredly know that Howard stern is just plain crazy and you would never say any of those terrible things.

Just a couple of points before everyone flies off the handle…
1. There is no basis for a lawsuit here. The bit on the show is protected as parody. In order to sue, Dolly would have to prove that people could mistakenly take these statements seriously. Even a casual fan of Dolly’s would never do that.
2. Alongside being a wonderful singer/songwriter, Dolly is an amazingly savvy business woman. A little feud with someone like Stern is great for her national profile. When was the last time she was a national news story.
3. Just because someone has a different or darker sense of humor than you doesn’t mean they are a bad person or that they are filled with hate. To judge everyone that listens to Stern based on that is to be guilty of the exact same intolerence you attribute to him.
I listen to Stern. I am not a country music fan, but I loved Dolly in 9 to 5 and thought Islands in the Stream was a great song. It’s a big world out there and there is room for all sorts of people with all sorts of tastes. Please don’t hate what you don’t understand, I am sure Dolly would agree with that.

Even though she is a celebrity, and even though he is untouchable by the FCC, there are still defimation, libel and slander laws protecting everyone—even celebrities, irregardless of freedom of speech, which is every American’s constitutional right. However, given the character and mentality of Stern as well as the purpose for which he and his efforts stand, the sooner someone can make an example of him by successfully proceeding with court action (as well as those who commence similar violations), a little more respectable the world will become. If the courts do end up making an example of him then perhaps others would think twice before committing the same infraction. Unfortunately, the village is full of idiots just like him…

If anyone though the audio clips Howard Stern played were even close to real you must either have not heard them or you are severly retarded.
For and someone whose career was founded on having large breasts, I would have thought Dolly would be able to understand a little humor.
Stern spent 5 minutes playing these clips. The only reason most of Dolly’s fan even know they exist is because she has spent days crying about it. Maybe a lawsuit against someone high profile like Howard Stern is just what Dolly needs to get back into pop culture.

Whether it involved Dolly’s voice or anyone else’s, I don’t find racist jokes or sexually vulgar “jokes” about “little boys” (ie children) funny. I doubt Dolly cares to hear the sound of her voice uttering these types of things even if she knows it’s fake and so does the world.
It’s one thing if Howard Stern uses his own voice to do racist and vulgar jokes, but to take another person’s voice to do them is over the line. If he wanted to do a parody, why something so extreme. There are plenty of things he could have had her saying. These things are sick. They conjure up sickening images of respectable people doing vile things.
I’m sure Dolly is embarrassed for her friends and the late Johnny Carson whom she had great respect for and did so much for her career. She may not have grounds to sue, but she still has a right to be hurt and humiliated like she said she was, and for that, someone owes her at the very least an apology.

YOU GO DOLLY!!! I totally agree with you!!! I understand that many may think that this was funny & meant as a joke, but do we really need to scrape the bottom of the barrel to get a laugh? Are we so starved for humor that we now have turned to the offensive for a kick? It is disgusting!!! Until we stand up & say no more nothing will change. Racism & down right vulgerness should never be funny. How can we be a world without pejudices until we stop laughing at this kind of crap & thinking that it is normal? If you get the chance Dolly, look up the lyrics on line. I think it is appropriate for this situation. To me, YOU ARE GOLD! You have stayed that way over the years no matter what!!! Is it not a slap in the face of country music when the ACM awards aired two SIRIUS ads promoting howard stern, the INFIDEL durning the show? I am canceling my SIRIUS radion because of this!

Dolly- You have your fans backing you 100%. It is quite obvious he did editing on this. I honestly believe that no one is going to buy this crock of crap. You are beautiful inside and out and everyone in the free world knows you wouldn’t say such things. We love you, Dolly! Keep your head up.

I think you are down to earth person. I am a fan of yours, as for Howard, what he done to you was not right. He should be taken off the air for good.

I think it’s harsh that people could abuse others this way without there being more outrage about this. I mean, he’s done it to other celebrities before (and none that I actually liked) but I’ve never agreed with cutting and diceing what others say to make them sound bad- its as bad as plagerism, which you could sue over.
I don’t know what you’ll decide to do, but if you did decide to take this up with that (insert rude words here) then you go girl!
You’re a strong woman, with high morales, and you shouldn’t let anything that Stern says get you down.
My parents are totally behind you, and I only just started listening really, but I’m already a huge fan, and there’s millions of people behind you!
Just keep facing the world, chin up and smiling… that’s one of the things I love about you.
It’s one of the things that makes you real.
Howard Stern is dirt, and he’s got nothing on a shooting star like you.

you should sue the dirtbag. he has done nothing but hurt you and your fans. if i could i would stand up for you but, im not even 12 yet. but you just keep smiling as you always do! even though he says he is a longtime dolly parton fan it is obvious hes not! you just keep your head held high!!!!!!!

I do not find Howard Stern Funny at all. He is pornographic, Rasist and gross. His fans that find him amusing are probably all on drugs.. Look at him he looks like a junkie… Dolly, I think you should sue him. Even tho it is a tape of your voice that he spliced together, he used your voice without written consent to demean or make fun of you. Slander, Deformation of cariture. Also using the clips from your book on cd he is violating your copywrite. Those of us who adore you and think you should be up for saint hood are hurt by this deeply because we know you better and we know its not you making those comments thats not the point. The point is he doe’nt have the right to abuse or slander anyone…
