Transamerica Soundtrack Available For Preorder

The soundtrack for the movie Transamerica is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The soundtrack which features Dolly’s Golden Globe Nominated track “Travelin’ Thru” will be released by Nettwerk Records on February 7th. Dolly Parton On-Line has heard an advance copy of the track and it is by far one of Dolly’s strongest releases in a long time. The gospel-influenced lyrics are accompanied by bluegrassy instrumentation with heavy drums and African-sounding background vocals. The track, which is already nominated for Critics Choice and Golden Globe awards, is many critics’ pick to nab an Oscar nomination on January 31st.

Dolly and Eric Lee BeddingfieldDolly has recorded a cover of Blackfoot’s “Train, Train” as a duet with new artist Eric Lee Beddingfield. Ricky Medlocke of Lynyrd Skynyrd also joins in on the track. Fans will remember that Dolly recorded her own version of “Train, Train” bluegrass-style in 1999’s The Grass Is Blue. “Travelin’ Thru” Nabs Golden Globe Nomination!

“Travelin’ Thru” from the film Transamerica has just been nominated for Best Original Song for this year’s Golden Globe Awards! In a statement issued to the press regarding the nomination, Dolly stated “What a great honor to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award for my song ‘Travelin’ Thru’ from the wonderful, touching film ‘Transamerica.’ After all my years in show business, I’m still humbled and overjoyed when I am recognized for my work.” Actress Felicity Huffman who plays the lead in the film was also nominated for Best Performance By An Actress In A Motion Picture for portraying a transgendered man going through gender reconstruction surgery. The winners will be announced January 16th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel which will air live on NBC.

Dolly and CMT Insider Host Katie CookDolly will appear on this weekend’s episode of CMT Insider in a sit-down interview with Katie Cook from backstage at her Birmingham, Alabama concert on December 3rd. A second piece of the show will also be aired, in which viewers will learn of Dolly’s stage secrets! CMT Insider premieres at 1:30 PM Eastern on Saturday, December 17th and will re-air through Monday.

“Travelin’ Thru” Nominated For Critics’ Choice!

Dolly’s song “Travelin’ Thru” is nominated for Best Song at the 11th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards. Dolly’s track, which is featured in the new movie Transamerica, is up against Emmylou Harris’ “A Love That Will Never Grow Old” from Brokeback Mountain, Terrence Howard’s “Hustle & Flow” from Hustle & Flow, I Nine’s “Same In Any Language” from Elizabethtown, and Tracie Thomas and Jesse L. Martin’s “Seasons Of Love” from Rent. The Critics Choice Awards air January 9th on the WB.

TransamericaAn original Dolly song entitled “Travelin’ Thru” is featured in the new movie Transamerica. Duncan Turner, the film’s director, personally asked Dolly to write a song for the movie, and she happily obliged. “I was proud to be asked to write a song for Transamerica. It’s a remarkable movie that touches you in every single place of human emotion. Working with Duncan Tucker was a great joy and wonderful experience. I’m glad that we were all ‘Travelin’ Thru’ at the same time.” While the film is being shown in select markets starting this weekend, the soundtrack is not slated to be released until February by Nettwerk Records. “Travelin’ Thru” is already some critic’s pick to win Best Original Song at next year’s Oscars. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Brad Paisley Music Video Coming

Although it only features a few seconds of Dolly, the music video for Brad Paisley and Dolly’s single “When I Get Where I’m Going” will premiere on CMT’s Top 20 Countdown on December 8th. The single is currently #18 on Billboard’s Country Singles Chart and is featured on Brad’s latest album Time Well Wasted. Dolly Joins Jerry D

Dolly Parton and Jerry DDolly has joined saxophonist Jerry D on his new CD Sax In The Country. Jerry performs Dolly’s classic “I Will Always Love You” with Dolly adding a stunning vocal performance on the final verse and chorus. Also featured on the CD is songwriting legend Deborah Allen, who adds her vocals to her hit “Baby, I Lied.” Sax In The Country was recorded at Two Monkeys Studio, owned by Dolly’s friends and frequent collaborators Kent Wells and Tony Smith.
