Backwoods Barbie is set to debut at #2 on Billboard's country albums chart, marking Dolly's highest country chart position in 17 years and her highest album chart debut of her career! With sales over 26,543 units in the first week, Dolly also comes in at #17 on Billboard's pop albums chart and #2 on the indie album chart. The album was also the top-selling country album last week on iTunes and the most-listened to album on Best Buy's on-line store completely sold out of the album in the first day although copies should still remain available in stores. Fans can purchase the album from Amazon, iTunes (includes live bonus track of "I Will Always Love You"), Wal-Mart (with live bonus track of "9 To 5") and Target (live bonus tracks of "Jolene" and "Two Doors Down").

Wow -- there are 48 reviews at Amazon, just nine days after Backwoods Barbie was released. And 47 of them are five-star rave reviews.

This is just phenomenal. Plenty of excellent music does not attract this many reviews -- let alone so overwhelmingly positive -- even years after its release.

Obviously there's an intense hunger out there for the real music that Dolly writes and performs. If brain-dead country radio doesn't get at, at least the record companies do. Some of her 1970s and 1980s recordings, which were only available on vinyl, have been re-released on CD this year. They are killer material.

I run across new and talented musical performers now and then. But when it comes to the four-decade track record that Dolly has laid down, nobody can touch it. Even burning a CD of favorite Dolly tunes is impossible; it takes two or three just to cover the highlights.

Would you have bought Hank Williams' records, if you were around in 1949 or 1952? Well, Dolly Parton helped build the foundations of country music, as Hank did, and is still adding to her incomparable oeuvre. So don't blow your second chance.

I couldn't have said it better myself! What's even more amazing is that it's the highest album chart debut of her career and it was released on her own indie label (Dolly Records) and not one of the major labels. With this album's success, she could literally be paving a new way for artists to create and sell their music. What else can I say? She's amazing!
